About
Scape aims to publish the best in short YA speculative fiction. We think this is an exciting area of literature and believe that another quality outlet will only benefit the genre.
All Scape staff are volunteers – this enables us to pay our contributors at the semi-professional level, albeit at the lower end of this spectrum. With your support, we hope to increase our rates in the future.
Scape launched in April 2011. It is currently published four times per year.
Slush Reader Position
Scape is currently recruiting for new slush readers. On average, each reader at Scape screens 5-10 short story submissions per week, ranging from ragingly terrible to terribly brilliant. If you are interested, please take a look around the site to familiarize yourself with what we’re about. Having done that, if you would like to apply, please send an e-mail with brief answers to the following questions, along with a short CV/bio to the editor: editor (at) scapezine (dot) com.
1. What is your favorite Scape story to date? Why?
2. What is your least favorite Scape story? Why?
3. What are your three favorite YA spec fic books. Why?
4. Why do you want to join team Scape?
Applications close Wednesday 29th February.
Notes:
This position, as with all at Scape, is voluntary.
While we will never discriminate on grounds of gender or age, we are very much encouraging applications from both young people and males (we’re an all-girl outfit at the moment and would like to even things up).
